Curwensville Borough

The Borough Council is the center of the Borough’s government, it is the hub around which all else revolves. Council determines how the Borough funds are to be spent, passes local laws in the form of ordinances and exercises considerable supervision over day-to-day activities.

Borough Council Meetings
Curwensville Borough Council meets the 2nd Monday of each month in the Council Room of the Curwensville Borough Building at 6:00 pm

Borough Regulations

Curwensville has a Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission, Shade Tree Commission and a Civil Service Commission.

The Borough’s Subdivision Ordinance regulates the division of land, adjustment of property lines and development of lots. All plans must be reviewed and approved by Council.

The Borough Code Enforcement Officer issues permits for all new construction, enlargements, alterations, or demolition of any structure. Permits are also needed for swimming pools, sheds, new fences, driveways and sidewalks. Permit cost is $40.00 for construction valued at $100.00 to $20,000 and an additional $2.50 for each $1,000 of value thereafter. Permits can be obtained from the Code Enforcement Office located in the Borough Building.

Sidewalks are the responsibility of the homeowner, and they must be constructed in accordance with specifications in the Borough Ordinance.

Street opening permits are required for the digging of any Borough street, permits are also issued for soliciting door-to-door.
